Home Again - Bishop Cate Reflects on Her Time in Sudan![]() Dear Friends, I apologize for the delay in sending you further news about our trip to South Sudan. Deacon Drew Klatte and I returned home on Friday afternoon, and by Saturday evening I was down with the 'flu! Still feeling a bit puny, but on the upswing, I’m sure. What I want most for you to know is that the people of the Diocese of Bor are filled with faith, they have embraced Bp. Ruben, and he is doing a wonderful job. He is a very different person than Bp. Nathaniel – who is far more introverted. Ruben is very outgoing and has the opportunity to be a bishop in a very different way than Nathaniel. He has a wonderful sense of humor, and at least attempts to use a computer for e-mail. :)

How We Talk With Each Other at ChurchKathy Copas ![]() Over the holidays, I attended a parish mission-related event where a very active husband, wife, and kids were uncharacteristically absent. Later, I found out why. Apparently, they got offended at the prior year’s event because some of their fellow parishioners were making catty comments about others in the church. The offenders thought they were making harmless jokes, being funny about someone’s quirks. But, what it all boiled down to was they were actually “making fun” of people. And, these observers were hurt by listening to this so-called humor at another’s expense. Thus, they decided to remove themselves from this event in the future. By the way—I understand they have also recently removed themselves from Sunday worship more than a few times. And, I just heard from a mutual friend that they are actually considering another church.
